MOLESKINE
Gentlemen, this morning is cold and miserable, and it would have been easy to stay in bed, but there’s value in choosing to be uncomfortable. For me, it’s a reminder that God has a plan, even though we have no idea what that plan is or why we get put in difficult situations. It’s a reminder of how much easier it is to face challenges when your brothers are by your side. I know for a fact that if I hadn’t joined this group, I would still be laying in my bed. And lastly, being uncomfortable reminds me of how lucky I am to have the freedoms and comforts that I have.
I did some digging about wars that were fought in the cold and I came across the Battle of the Bulge, which was a WWII battle fought in December & January in 1944. This battle was the beginning of the end of WWII b/c of the Allied victory. Temperatures were well below zero and US soldiers were severely unprepared for the extreme temperatures due to rapid advancement from enemy troops and supply chain issues. American soldiers, many in their teens, were forced to sleep in frozen fox holes, wrapping their hands & feet in newspapers to fight frostbite, while starving and fighting off enemy advances. These young men stood their ground in conditions that could break the strongest body & spirit. They endured not because it was comfortable, but because the man next to them depended on them.
This cold we feel today is nothing compared to what they endured, but the lesson still applies. Hard conditions reveal who we trust. And when we stay present for the man beside us, we reflect the same love that Christ shows us.
So as we stand here in the cold, remember:
God is with us in the discomfort. We were never meant to do hard things alone. And when one brother struggles, we carry him—just as Christ carries us.
SYITG,
Chopper
